IP Filing 2021

Academic community, students of Karnavati University file record 156 IPS

Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Government of Gujarat, felicitates 160+ student, faculty members

Ahmedabad, September 11, 2021: In a major leap towards innovations in design, the students and the academic community of Karnavati University in Uvarsad, Gandhinagar, made a record by filing 156 Intellectual Property (IP) in a single day. The humungous achievement was applauded and recognized by Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister of Education, Government of Gujarat, at a felicitation ceremony organised at Karnavati University’s campus on September 11, 2021.

The record number of IP filings was the fruit of the hard work and ingenuity of at least 144 student teams and over 20 faculty members of the Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), which is affiliated with Karnavati University. The initiative is inspired by Government of Gujarat’s Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP).

The 156 filings, which underwent three stages of vetting, include seven patents, 77 design IPs, 59 copyright filings and 13 trademarks, among others. The IPs filed were themed around mobility design, automobile and transportation design, global design, fashion design, textile, visual communications, product design, interior design, lifestyle accessories design and animation and motion graphics. The entire exercise was facilitated by Mr. Jaideep Banerjee, Head of Incubation, Karnavati University.

Invigoration 2019

Invigoration 2019 was organized on 30th September, 2019 for selection of ideas presented for incubation at Karnavati Incubation and Innovation Centre. The event was attended by prominent guests from the start-up ecosystem of Ahmedabad including Prof. Manish Jain – Associate Professor-IIT Gandhinagar, Prof. Jay Thakkar, Associate Professor, CEPT University and Mr. Amit Gohil, Director of NRI Startup India and Prof. Jaideep Banerjee from Karnavati University. A total of 25 start-ups comprising of 72 students from all the constituent colleges of Karnavati University presented their idea ranging from ideation in graphics design, fashion retailing to unique products and services.
